This is a must have for anybody really trying to follow the A Blood Type diet. Planning meals from this book is so much more relaxed than trying to amend other recipes to fit the blood type diet. It has made grocery shopping and meal planning much easier for me. Plus, the recipes are delicious. The Veggie Lasagna is the best veggie lasagna I have ever had! And some of the meals seem so indulgent compared to how I was trying to follow the blood type diet on my own - especially the Herb-Crusted Turkey Breast, Stone-Fruit Salad, and Fish Tacos. Major props to Chef Kristin O'Conner for developing such healthy, delicious meals!HOWEVER, this book is poorly edited and not appropriate for people just beginning to cook. There is no ingredient index, no sense of how long recipes will take to make, not enough suggestions for pairing food, and too many omissions/typos. One soup recipe says to "add water bring to boil and simmer," but never says how much water. I guessed 4 c. and it worked out. Another says "bake until..." but it never says how long or at what temperature. Some recipe titles mention ingredients that are not in the recipe! This is poor editing, and should be improved for future editions. I would recommend that the publisher create a site for people to report such omissions/ typos.Other suggestions for the next edition.- A list in the introduction of where featured ingredient explanations are located and suggestions for buying and storing rare ingredients.- index!- weekly meal planners with shopping lists that minimize how many ingredients must be bought. Buying many ingredients that I only need small amounts for make following the A blood type diet much more expensive and harder to follow. Build the meal plans with cost and efficiency in mind. (ex: each week have 1 poultry, 1 fish, and 3 veggie dinners, with lunches that take into account leftovers from dinner)All in all I love this cook book! And I highly recommend it to my friends who like to eat and cook healthy meals. But shame on the publishers for not editing it appropriately. Poor editing really reduces the quality and usability of this book - especially for people who are trying to eat and cook healthy for the first time.

Disappointed. Bought this book over a year ago and never used it. I'm an accomplished cook, and capable of scouring the Internet for recipes. Excited and new to the world of "diet" cookbooks, I bought this expecting recipes which were centered around beneficial foods for Type A, with neutrals and no "avoids". I was shocked and dismayed to find them in many of the recipes, and really no emphasis on the beneficials. Later, I read that the cookbooks were written so that families could use them to create recipes to satisfy members of different blood types. Sorry, but that's really lame. This book should have NO AVOID INGREDIENTS IN IT. The whole idea is to stop using those foods, as they are damaging to us. Now, after having gone chiefly paleo and reading the reviews for many guides and cookbooks, I see that poor composition is common. Finally as a Type A I see a need for a cookbook which eliminates coconut, banana, nightshades, cabbage, cauliflower and most cheeses. I may write one.

This book contains a great amount of recipes. Starting the blood type diet can be confusing, and it's tiring to constantly reference the "good" list of foods when cooking or meal planning. This takes care of that problem. The pictures are pretty lackluster, so I'm not raving about them, but the recipes themselves are solid. There's a section for main dishes, side dishes, snacks and drinks.For beginner cooks, or those not accustomed to cooking with fresh/alternative ingredients (spelt flour, beet sauce, carob chips, adzuki beans, tofu) this will be very challenging. I've been cooking "alternatively" for several years so it wasn't too big of a deal for me, personally, but I've read several reviews stating otherwise. It's nothing anyone cannot tackle, given the time and some research for better understanding.

I am not usually one for non-fiction but The Class was (if I may coin a word) unputdownable. The book tells the story of one year in a high school science class in Greenwich, Connecticut, and while that may seem like a dry subject, it was anything but. The author had an incredible ability to get you invested in the characters, who, in addition to being ambitious and driven budding scientists, are also teenage kids navigating social pressures, annoying parents, college applications, and all the other teenage experiences we all remember. The real genius of the book is that, because of the way that the characters are developed and you get to know them outside of the classroom, you actually end up deeply invested in the outcomes of their science projects too! And in framing the book around the "science fair circuit"--a series of high-stakes competitions that take place around the end of the school year--the author has managed to infuse the story with a compelling narrative arc, a brisk pace, and a satisfying coda. On top of that, she writes beautifully and the book is full of vivid descriptive passages that are still stuck in my head months after reading it. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

This is a wonderfully written book about an amazing teacher, ruined by extraneous snarky remarks against President Trump and the First Lady. These comments smack of coastal elitism and are served up without any context relating to the story being told.Authors need to understand that not all readers suffer from TDS. In a troubled world it’s great to read about individuals who make a difference. Great teachers are under-appreciated. Andrew Bramante is a special influence professionally and personally. I’m lucky to know his family and admire their dedication to balancing education and family. These are remarkable kids Andy worked with and they all deserve recognition.

I read the book, it’s the best book I’ve never read before , anyway it’s the best book

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, it is an excellent introduction to great teaching. In our modern educational debate, people suggest a number of things they hope will fix the problems in our education system: more funding, better teacher training, vouchers, more funding for charters, better accountability, common core, improved regulations, etc. None of these actually help students very much. The one thing that nearly always helps students--immediately and in a way that last--is better teaching. The Class does an excellent job of showing how great teaching works and how it can make a significant difference. Very worth reading.On the other hand, the system in which the book takes place is very disappointing. The focus of the students, and usually the teachers, in this book so often centers on winning contests, beating the competition posed by other students, impressing universities, and trying to win more contests. Most of the time, when a contest is mentioned, the amount of money the student can win is immediately listed. In this version of education, contests and winning money are the center of the whole educational experience. And parents are just as focused on this as students and most teachers. A love of learning, the joy of knowledge, ideas, gaining wisdom, trying to learn about the most important things in history and life--these are hardly mentioned. As if they aren't even a part of learning. Disappointing.If this really is the modern schooling system, and if this is what school is like for the "best of the best" in America's award-winning schools and classrooms, our nation is in trouble. Almost nothing about great learning or great ideas. It's all winning awards and trying to impress others. Mostly devoid of entrepreneurship, innovation, or leadership education. The focus is conveyor belt, factory-style schools. And ribbons. Learning isn't the point; just checking off bureaucratic boxes, winning awards, and trying to out-impress "the other drones". Sorry to say it so bluntly, and maybe the students covered in the stories don't experience it this way (I hope not), but this is how it felt reading the book. Sad.Of course, someone is going to say: "That's reality. That's just the way education is today. Get real." I know this is true in many, perhaps most, schools. But that's even more sad. I think the role of great teachers should be to help students see past the conveyor-belt drive to win awards and to discover the greatness of loving to learn. Maybe that's too idealistic. But still: Carpe Diem. I think, reading between the lines, that this is the kind of teacher Andy (the main character in the book) is in real life. That's why he's had such success, I bet. I just wish the story would have showed more of this. Still, it's a great read. Anyone interested in education will find this a valuable resource.

Keep in mind that in the digital version of this book, the figures that show what the example looks like are blurry, and are thus rendered almost completely useless. This has caused me some trouble in completing the exercises, and it's more difficult to rely completely on the text (although the text directions are very clear and helpful, which is why this review has two stars instead of one).

I bought this because I wanted to learn Microsoft Access for my work. This is a really great book. All you need to do is just do the exercise step by step. And then towards the end the terminology you could get confused with. I just skip those and kept doing the exercises. At the end of the whole book I plan on reviewing the terminology using flashcards. I can't wait to take my Microsoft Access exam. Definitely worth all of the $70. One tip tip: use Google Calendar to schedule 30 miniature one-hour study (exercise doing) sessions. This book takes a while but it'll be worth it when you do it. Buy this book I am so glad I did. Thank you

Got this book because it was a requirement for my Database class but I am finding it very easy to read and navigate through the pages. I love all of the screenshots that it shows.

I write this review today as I am purchasing this book for an acquaintance that has lost her spouse. This book was given as a gift to me when I was widowed at the age of 27 after losing my husband in an accident, and being left to raise our infant daughter on my own. I have read many books on grieving and recovering from the loss of a spouse and this was by far the most helpful to me. I opened it up about a week after my husband's death, read the introduction and found it was just too much- I recoiled at the notion there could ever be happiness again much less a full life and the mere thought of another marriage made my physically ill. Another few weeks went by and I picked it up again, drawn to the idea that there could be an "other side" to such pain and misery, and wanting desperately to stop hurting. This became my go- to book. I would read as much as I could process at the time and would then put it away, only to return to it when I was ready to continue the journey. I read this book many times, the last time after I became engaged to be married again. It was hard but I found that other side of grief, where you can continue to love and cherish the time and memories of the person you lost, and yet go on to live a full life again. I am now happily married and have been blessed with more children. I have purchased many copies of this book and have given them out as the unfortunate occasion arises. I have had deep friendships forged with fellow widows because I reached out with this book and have witnessed some stories similar to my own unfold. I buy this again today with the hope and prayer that another widow would be successful in getting to the other side of grief.

As a grieving husband who lost his beloved wife of 35 years this book gave me insight and the tools to begin a successful journey thru grief. It was so helpful to understand the process I was emotionally experiencing all the while confirming I wasn't going nuts. Waves of tears and sadness that I am not used to experiencing or exhibiting, especially in front of others, we're normal. This book gave a 62 year old widow permission to grieve & a plan with purpose to get to the other side sooner rather than later. I am a born again Christian and very much needed a book with my world view to minister to me.

Before I read this book I read a negative but very popular review. Now that I've read the book, I believe the author of that review, in her pain and suffering, misread what the author of the book actually said. What he said is what is actually in the bible. Death entered the world when Adam and Eve were put out of the Garden of Eden. Half the book is about a very specific kind of spiritual belief. If you can't handle Genesis this is not the book for you.The practical half of the book, which is very clearly marked as being written by the therapist is excellent for anyone. The spiritual half of the book is clearly written for a specific segment of the general population. Although I don't belong to that segment of the population I found what the Pastor had to say useful anyway.Both of the authors lost their first spouses, both of them after marriages long enough to have raised children to adulthood. They have been where their readers are and what they have to say, both the practical things and the spiritual things, are helpful if you are trying to work your way to the other side of grief.

Although I am not widowed yet (husband has advanced Alzheimer's) the authors helped me immensely. My sorrow and grief were unbearable when I first started reading, but am so much better now. I am able to visit my husband knowing the best is being done for him and when he dies I will hopefully be equipped to handle the huge loss. I may have to re-read the book!

I ordered this book for myself after checking it out of the "library" at a GriefShare Support Group. My 43yo husband died suddenly and unexpectedly and I have been clamoring for information about how to get through this, over this, past this, around this pain. I am learning that it doesn't work that way. What I like about this book is that you get more than one perspective, the man explains what he went through and what helped him as a male and as a pastor. The woman explains things from a female perspective and is a clinical psychologist. I just felt there was so much to take away from the way it was presented, I read the whole book in 2 nights. It may not be for everyone because it is a Christian based book, but I really appreciated the different ideas on various areas of grieving. There is no "answer" book, although I keep looking, but I feel this book is pretty practical and yet genuinely supportive. There were parts where I didn't relate or agree, but I was not offended because I understood it was just a presentation of another perspective and I gained in other areas. I feel it's a book you need to reference at different times during your grief because the end focuses on "the end" when you feel healed and ready to move on. And since I'm not there yet, I will have to go back to that part at a later date. All in all, a practical, supportive read.

While i appreciate the intent of the authors the book lacked continuity for me. After losing my wife a month earlier my mind was confused enough without switching between clinical analysis and spiritual guidance in every chapter. It was like spaghetti sauce on ice cream. I like them both, but not together. Hopefully it was more useful for others. On to another book!

It was clear that not many safety lessons had been learned from the worst nuclear accident in history.This is a story with many villains and some remarkable heroes. But the techniques are standard for professionals and can benefit the new and advanced amateurs. Yes, there is much more to photography than this, but I recommend this book to those amateurs.

I previously read Doug Klostermann's book on the Canon T2i. So, when I upgraded it was a reasonable decision to follow his T5i guide, too. Yes, much of it is "basic" photography concepts, but I will never think I don't need to read/hear them again, and enjoy the different authors' approaches to teaching these basics. Kostermann does a great job of identifying what's new in the T5i, and how to use what's new, and what's not to get the most out of the camera. Ultimately, better photography comes from who's behind a particular camera, and having Klostermann with me when I'm behind my T5i has already produced some better-than-usual photos.

The Canon T5i Experience, AS AN E-BOOK, leaves a lot to be desired. A key factor is no index. Yes, you can search for items with the search engine but often it fails to find the subject or finds too many hits. For example, I can look up Macro photography in the manual very easily in the index but I can't find it in this book even though I know it must be there. The author is clearly an expert photographer, but explaining how a complicated machine works is not an easy job and is much different that explaining how to take a good photo.The writing style is stilted and the author spends much to much time telling the reader 5 ways to do something in the same sentence. To do X you can set the control knob, use the button, use the touch screen, etc. This makes the explanations overly complex. And he seldom tells the reader the best way or the way he thinks it can be done easier. He does go through the many menus for camera settings and gives a complete explanation of why each setting is important and how it impacts taking photos.So... which book to buy? I like the Dummies books on photography and they have a book just for the Canon T5i that I find to be excellent. That is the book I use to figure out how to use my camera to the best advantage. For example, focus is a key factor in obtaining excellent pictures. The Canon T5i Experience just tells you how to use the various focusing features on the camera; however, the Dummies book tells the reader that the best way is to leave the focus on the center. Why, because the camera has several focus points and it will focus on the closest object. If you want to get the mountain in the distance and a twig is hanging in the picture three feet away that is what the camera will focus on if you leave it on auto. That information is worth its weight in gold because having a crystal clear photo is so important in most situations.I recommend the Dummies book on the T5i instead of this one. It has more information and stunning pictures. Note this is the E-BOOK for the T5i for Dummies. I am reading both books on an iPad.AD2

Mr, Klostermann holds true to his promise of expanding on the abilities of the T5i without rehashing what the Canon manual has to say about the camera operations.

Very informative book. The setting up of the camera functions was especially good, plus the recommended settings that the author made were helpful. A good adjunct for the supplied manual.

A very helpful guide to operation of the T5i.

As this was my first entry into the world of DSLRs I found the way the book was structured covering a whole topic was beneficial for me. I liked the way the Douglas referenced the Canon manual to enable me to gain further details only a particular aspect.With the large number of options provided by the T5i / 700D to assist with producing the perfect picture I anticipate this book will be accessed many times on my tablet
