Review

“Dana understands that plant-based cuisine should be accessible to the masses. You will fall in love with her approachable recipes using familiar ingredients!” —Angela Liddon, author of the New York Times bestseller The Oh She Glows Cookbook  "There are certainly days for farmers market strolls and lingering over the stove, but I also appreciate plant-based recipes that are concise and easy to follow. This book is an excellent resource for those not eating dairy or animal proteins while still providing plenty of flavor for omnivores alike. I often reach for cheese when I am looking for richness and flavor but am excited to try some of Dana's alternative ideas."—Sara Forte, author of The Sprouted Kitchen and Sprouted Kitchen: Bowl + Spoon   “Very vegan and often gluten-free Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking doesn’t miss a beat in delivering approachable, comforting, and reliable recipes for the serious vegan or hungry cook who just happens to be out of eggs and cream. This book is a new staple in my kitchen.”—Joy Wilson, author of Joy the Baker Cookbook   "The love for delicious and exciting food shines from these pages, and it all happens to be vegan and (mostly) gluten-free. Dana has carefully considered time, ease, flavour, accessibility, and any possible occasion with these colourful recipes. Comforting and beautiful food for all!"—Laura Wright, creator of the Saveur award winning blog The First Mess

Dana Shultz has written an absolutely gorgeous cookbook and packed it full of recipes that are diverse and interesting. I'm always delighted to find a cookbook like this one, where I can plan an entire menu that includes and satisfies everyone around the table, even diners not on a specific diet.I really like the layout, with basic recipes and methods at the beginning (for things like a flax egg and the 1-bowl approach (which appears a lot)). The recipes then follow along a familiar and easy-to-follow progression from breakfast - apps & sides - mains - desserts - drinks. Following the recipes, there is a basic pantry list and even a nutritional index(!) that lists every dish and its calories | fat | saturated fat | carbs | sodium | fiber | sugar | protein content. I am going to ignore that info for the amazingly delicious double-chocolate gluten-free waffles, but since they are meant to be a special occasion dessert/"breakfast", it's totally fine.At the top of each recipe page is a convenient notice about the advantages of that recipe. Some are 30 minutes or less, some require only one pot, some are gluten-free, some are 10 ingredients or less, others are all of the above, etc. Combined with a brief description, info on prep and cook time for each recipe, and a photo - usually on the same page - Dana's recipes are thoughtfully presented and easy to follow. The spine does enable the book to stay open easily and most recipes plus their photo are all on the same page as the ingredients list (which I love).Dana writes that her Spiced Buckwheat Pancakes are her favorite vegan pancakes to date, so I easily made a batch tonight and froze them individually for my breakfast all week. They are very good (assuming you like spices & buckwheat, both of which I adore). I'm really excited to try her Chickpea Fesenjan for dinner tomorrow night (yum walnuts, pomegranate, chickpeas and cauliflower rice (my choice)). With a prep time of only 10 minutes and a total cook time of 45 minutes, it's a perfect example of most of her main dishes: full of flavor but short on time-commitment and actual prep time. These recipes also scale really well - down to a single serving or up for a larger crowd. I can tell I'll be cooking a lot from the Minimalist Baker's Everyday Cooking; it's perfect for any audience - those eating plant-based all the time, only on Mondays, expanding your gluten-free horizons, and everyone in between.

I really wanted to love this cookbook, I really did. I agree with another review though, I wish I'd borrowed the book first. I'm having a terrible case of buyers remorse. The recipes are very hit or miss (sadly most have been misses here). I've tried 7 recipes in the past two weeks, today my family asked that I take a break from this cookbook for awhile. Only a couple recipes will be repeated; the vegan queso was a win and the enchiladas. The PB Pad Thai, the White Bean Posole Verde and the Garlic Pineapple Stir-Fried Quinoa all sounded and looked amazing in the book, but sadly were thrown away. I want to try more recipes, but I don't want to waste any more groceries. If would suggest borrowing the cookbook or testing some recipes from her blog before purchasing. I wish I had.

I've been reading Dana's blog for a year now, and I absolutely love how easy and simple her recipes are. This book does not disappoint! The pictures are amazing and it is filled with delicious-sounding recipes. It does contain a substantial number of drinks/smoothies (about 10% of the recipes), which I don't really care for- especially in the breakfast section. That being said, I'm sure others will enjoy them and the rest of the recipes more than make up for it. One other criticism is I have is that the picture of the food sometimes appears after the recipe and sometimes before, which can be off-putting if you're a*** about things like that. I will update this review with pictures as I cook recipes from the book. Also, if you order the book and send a copy of the receipt to this email address: bundle@minimalistbaker.comYou get an additional 5 recipes in your inbox.ETA: Made the Thai quinoa meatballs today. Yum!

I love this cookbook for so many reasons....1. The recipes are delicious. I've never tried a recipe from minimalist baker that wasn't good and the recipes in this cookbook are no exception!2. The meals are simple to make and the author Dana provides all the instruction you need to cook with confidence even if you are not very experienced in the kitchen.3. Most of the recipes are very nutritious but at the same time do not sacrifice flavor. The few recipes that are not "healthy" is just because they are treats meant to be enjoyed every once in a while. The jumbo chocolate chip cookies come to mind :D (and you would never guess they were vegan)4. Everything in this book is vegan and cruelty free! Every recipe is free of meat, dairy and eggs and most of the recipes are gluten free or can be extremely easily made gluten free. I think just about anyone could eat food out of this cookbook and be more than satisfied.5. The photography of the food is beautiful! It's so fun to just flip through it. Even if i'm not going to choose a recipe to make, it's still fun to just go through the book and look at the pictures and think "wow that looks great"All around this is a great cookbook and I am looking forward to the next one minimalist baker puts out!

The guide was very informative in small southern towns and surprisingly current for a book that was 12 years old. Some of the email addresses were goofed up but the phone #s all worked. The new orleans section was a little shaky for lodging, but ingeneral the guide was solid and a very good deal for $14 used.

This is an excellent introduction and travel guide to the southern states in and around the Mississippi delta region. It covers Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee along with information on towns and cities such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and many more.I recently had the opportunity to travel through most of the region covered in the travel guide - before the hurricane in 2004. I drove my car (from Toronto) down through Louisville and into Tennessee, then on to Alabama, Mississippi, making a loop through New Orleans, going north through Louisiana to Baton Rouge and departing the delta into Texas at Shreveport, taking the interstate to Dallas. This whole delta region is a very unusual region. I was intrigued by the vast areas of swamps in southern Louisiana and the elevated interstate highways. These are constructed like continuous bridges elevated above the swamps. This region contains many beautiful southern farms and forests. I was a bit disappointed by New Orleans and think it is a bit over hyped as a tourist destination and it has a reputation of being a bit dangerous after dark. Having said that it does have its own charm, cooking, and unique culture, and it is probably the most interesting spot to visit in this area. It is a city that one does not want to skip. The book is an excellent and a very well balanced guide. I was pleasantly surprised to use this book as a guide and resource. It has lots of photographs, maps, descriptions of things to see, places of interest, local culture including southern cooking, and more. The book has many things that communicate the unique lifestyle, history, and culture of the region and it makes for an excellent travel reference. All you need is this book and a book of state highways or download a Yahoo trip planner that gives driving instructions. I prefer the map book that are typically 8.5" x 11" that have one state map per page plus the overall intersate guide at the front. The guide has the usual lists of hotels and restaurants, but I booked my rooms by the internet or just stayed a local places as I found them by car. Book your city hotels in advance. New Orleans and Memphis are sometimes very busy. In any case the restaurant guide is good.Good buy and I highly recommend.

older but very informative

Physics for Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics (3rd Edition)

From the Inside Flap

PREFACE A Brand New Third Edition It has been more than ten years since the second edition of this calculus-based introductory physics textbook was published. A lot has changed since then, not only in physics itself, but also in how physics is presented. Research in how students learn has provided textbook authors new opportunities to help students learn physics and learn it well. This third edition comes in two versions. The standard version covers all of classical physics plus a chapter on special relativity and one on the early quantum theory. The extended version, with modern physics, contains a total of nine detailed chapters on modern physics, ending with astrophysics and cosmology. This book retains the original approach: in-depth physics, concrete and nondogmatic, readable. This new third edition has many improvements in the physics and its applications. Before discussing those changes in detail, here is a list of some of the overall changes that will catch the eye immediately. Full color throughout is not just cosmetic, although fine color photographs do help to attract the student readers. More important, full color diagrams allow the physics to be displayed with much greater clarity. We have not stopped at a 4-color process; this book has actually been printed in 5 pure colors (5 passes through the presses) to provide better variety and definition for illustrating vectors and other physics concepts such as rays and fields. I want to emphasize that color is used pedagogically to bring out the physics. For example, different types of vectors are given different colors—see the chart on page xxxi. Many more diagrams, almost double the number in the previous edition, have all been done or redone carefully using full color; there are many more graphs and many more photographs throughout. See for example in optics where new photographs show lenses and the images they make. Marginal notes have been added as an aid to students to (i) point out what is truly important, (ii) serve as a sort of outline, and (iii) help students find details about something referred to later that they may not remember so well. Besides such "normal" marginal notes, there are also marginal notes that point out brief problem solving hints, and others that point out interesting applications. The great laws of physics are emphasized by giving them a marginal note all in capital letters and enclosed in a rectangle. The most important equations, especially those expressing the great laws, are further emphasized by a tan-colored screen behind them. Chapter opening photographs have been chosen to illustrate aspects of each chapter. Each was chosen with an eye to writing a caption which could serve as a kind of summary of what is in that chapter, and sometimes offer a challenge. Some chapter-opening photos have vectors or other analysis superimposed on them. Page layout: complete derivations. Serious attention has been paid to how each page was formatted, especially for page turns. Great effort has been made to keep important derivations and arguments on facing pages. Students then don't have to turn back to check. More important, readers repeatedly see before them, on two facing pages, an important slice of physics. Two kinds of Examples: Conceptual Examples and Estimates. New Physics The whole idea of a new edition is to improve, to bring in new material, and to delete material that is verbose and only makes the book longer or is perhaps too advanced and not so useful. Here is a brief summary of a few of the changes involving the physics itself. These lists are selections, not complete lists. New discoveries:planets revolving around distant stars Hubble Space Telescope updates in particle physics and cosmology, such as inflation and the age of the universe New physics topics added:new treatment of how to make estimates (Chapter 1), including new Estimating Examples throughout (in Chapter 1, estimating the volume of a lake, and the radius of the Earth) symmetry used much more, including for solving problems new Tables illustrating the great range of lengths, time intervals, masses, voltages gravitation as curvature of space, and black holes (Chapter 6) engine efficiency (Chapter 8 as well as Chapter 20) rolling with and without slipping, and other useful details of rotational motion (Chapter 10) forces in structures including trusses, bridges, arches, and domes (Chapter 12) square wave (Chapter 15) using the Maxwell distribution (Chapter 18) Otto cycle (Chapter 20) statistical calculation of entropy change in free expansion (Chapter 20) effects of dielectrics on capacitor connected and not (Chapter 24) grounding to avoid electric hazards (Chapter 25) three phase ac (Chapter 31) equal energy in E and B of EM wave (Chapter 32) radiation pressure, EM wave (Chapter 32) photos of lenses and mirrors with their images (Chapter 33) detailed outlines for ray tracing with mirrors and lenses (Chapters 33, 34) lens combinations (Chapter 34) new radiation standards (Chapter 43) Higgs boson, supersymmetry (Chapter 44) Modern physics. A number of modern physics topics are discussed in the framework of classical physics. Here are some highlights:gravitation as curvature of space, and black holes (Chapter 6) planets revolving around distant stars (Chapter 6) kinetic energy at relativistic speeds (Chapter 7) nuclear collisions (Chapter 9) star collapse (Chapter 10) galaxy red shift, Doppler (Chapter 16) atoms, theory of (Chapters 17,18, 21) atomic theory of thermal expansion (Chapter 17) mass of hydrogen atom (Chapter 17) atoms and molecules in gases (Chapters 17,18) molecular speeds (Chapter 18) equipartition of energy; molar specific heats (Chapter 19) star size (Chapter 19) molecular dipoles (Chapters 21, 23) cathode ray tube (Chapters 23, 27) electrons in a wire (Chapter 25) superconductivity (Chapter 25) discovery and properties of the electron, e/m, oil drop experiment (Chapter 27) Hall effect (Chapter 27) magnetic moment of electrons (Chapter 27) mass spectrometer (Chapter 27) velocity selector (Chapter 27) electron spin in magnetic materials (Chapter 28) light and EM wave emission (Chapter 32) spectroscopy (Chapter 36) Many other examples of modern physics are found as Problems, even in early chapters. Chapters 37 and 38 contain the modern physics topics of Special Relativity, and an introduction to Quantum Theory and Models of the Atom. The longer version of this text, "with Modern Physics," contains an additional seven chapters (for a total of nine) which present a detailed and extremely up-to-date treatment of modern physics: Quantum Mechanics of Atoms (Chapters 38 to 40); Molecules and Condensed Matter (Chapter 41); Nuclear Physics (Chapter 42 and 43); Elementary Particles (Chapter 44); and finally Astrophysics, General Relativity, and Cosmology (Chapter 45). Revised physics and reorganizations. First of all, a major effort has been made to not throw everything at the students in the first few chapters. The basics have to be learned first; many aspects can come later, when the students are more prepared. Secondly, a great part of this book has been rewritten to make it clearer and more understandable to students. Clearer does not always mean simpler or easier. Sometimes making it "easier" actually makes it harder to understand. Often a little more detail, without being verbose, can make an explanation clearer. Here are a few of the changes, big and small:new graphs and diagrams to clarify velocity and acceleration; deceleration carefully treated. unit conversion now a new Section in Chapter 1, instead of interrupting kinematics. circular motion: Chapter 3 now gives only the basics, with more complicated treatment coming later: non-uniform circular motion in Chapter 5, angular variables in Chapter 10. Newton's second law now written throughout as ma = ΣF, to emphasize inclusion of all forces acting on a body. Newton's third law follows the second directly, with inertial reference frames placed earlier. New careful discussions to head off confusion when using Newton's third law. careful rewriting of chapters on Work and Energy, especially potential energy, conservative and nonconservative forces, and the conservation of energy. renewed emphasis that ΣΤ = Iα is not always valid: only for an axis fixed in an inertial frame or if axis is through the cm (Chapters 10 and 11). rolling motion introduced early in Chapter 10, with more details later, including rolling with and without slipping. rotating frames of reference and Coriolis, moved later, to Chapter 11, shortened, optional, but still including why an object does not fall straight down on Earth. fluids reduced to a single chapter (13); some topics and details dropped or greatly shortened. clearer details on how an object floats (Chapter 13). distinction between wave interference in space, and in time (beats) (Chapter 16). thermodynamics reduced to four chapters; the old chapters on Heat and on the First Law of Thermodynamics have been combined into one (19), with some topics shortened an

The book came in perfect condition. Giancoli is the premium standard for high school and college physics books. They are well written and contain a variety of problem that make you think about the material in a different way. It is a great suppliment for classroom learning. As an Petroleum Engineering major, this book should have 5 stars. But the main issue I have is the price of the book, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I do not believe college students should have to pay that astronomical price. The price of this book can equal the price of the class, and that is not good.

I took Physics 1 and Physics 2 at different schools, so I used two different textbooks. I have got to say that I found this book to be somewhat vain. The chapters have short explanations of the material followed by lots of examples, the book almost dives into the examples right away. At the end of each chapter there will usually be a section for things like "physics in real life." These sections are almost useless and irrelevant to the course. The professor almost always skipped them. With all the examples and the physics applied sections I feel as though the author tries to impress the world with everything that he knows about the subject. The book briefly explains the fundamentals and goes right into the examples, leaving the reader with the need to fill in gaps and make assumptions about the material. The other book that I used was Fundamentals of Physics by Resnick and Walker. I found that book to be much more sound and focused on teaching the fundamentals first. It was a lot easier for me to learn from this book.I just want to say that I'm not just a college kid complaining about something that didn't go my way. I made good grades in both physics classes. I am just giving my opinion of the two books. In the end, we don't get to choose what books we use for our classes, but I just thought that I would share this.

I hate this book on a visceral level. It's about a paragraph of an explanation and then overly complicated examples. It very poorly teaches the already difficult subject.

This book provides an excellent supplement to my physics 1 class. I find that reading the chapters really clarifies the concepts discussed/taught in my lecture and recitation, as the professors can get...distracted (physicists, am I right?) and ramble off topic. I also bought this because they recommended the 4th edition, but that was about a thousand dollars and there's really no difference between the two. Even most of the questions are the same. I'd recommend this for physics 1 students who want to save a few bucks.

I bought this because the text for my class is a worthless convoluted piece of crap that assumes you already have two semesters and A's in the classes it is for... and now it is going to show you fancy notation and pictures. This book from Giancoli, however, is amazing. I learn from this book in order to do the problems from my required text.If you are a physics professor, do not use Tipler, use Giancoli. Tipler assumes you already know physics, or want to spend hours a day in self discovery, sorry I am not Isaac Newton.

A very well written book, this book is good for all learners. Every point is explained very clearly, and yes, there is an example for every case!!!!!!

I enjoy this book. It seems to be alot more difficult than my tests so I figure if I can read and study the book and understand it then I'm definitely all set.

This text is one of the best books I have used. The wide array of subjects covered, and the relevance of the material to certain groups, as indicated in the title, is spot-on. There are countless fields to which the concepts contained herein could be applied. Whether you need the knowledge for functional purposes, or like me, just want to expand your knowledge base, this text is outstanding. Clear, concise concepts, and brilliant literature to express the points.

Amazon.com Review

Here's a book to raise the spirits of anyone of African descent who feels that he or she has nothing to do with the making of Western civilization. Frank M. Snowden Jr., a world-renowned scholar on ancient Greece and Rome who taught at Howard and Georgetown Universities, details with encyclopedic and painstaking scholarship and research the undeniable presence of Africans in the Greco-Roman world. "The experiences of those Africans who reached the alien shores of Greece and Italy constituted an important chapter in the history of classical antiquity," he writes. Using evidence from terra cotta figures, paintings, and classical sources like Herodotus and Pliny the Elder, Snowden proves, contrary to our modern assumptions, that Greco-Romans did not view Africans with racial contempt. Many Africans worked in the Roman Empire as musicians, artisans, scholars, and generals as well as slaves, and they were noted as much for their virtue as for their appearance of having a "burnt face" (from which came the Greek name Ethiopian). --Eugene Holley Jr.

Review

This book, by reason of its scrupulous, balanced scholarship and quietly reasoned argument, will be of lasting value not only to scholars but to anyone interested in questions of race and historical and social perceptions of race. (Michael Thelwell Boston Globe)The novelty of this book, the fruit of a lifetime's labor of love by a distinguished black classicist, lies in the exhaustive, impeccable scholarship with which it documents and illustrates its conclusion, that there is no evidence for racism or color prejudice in Greco-Roman antiquity. (Paul MacKendrick American Journal of Philology)Solid, important reading, and a landmark in the writing of history. [Snowden] skips secondary sources for the ancient evidence: writings, coins, epigraphs, papyri, pottery, etc. With data gleaned from these, he draws conclusions about the Ethiopian's (black's) place in the Greek, Roman, and early Christian eras, the white man's attitude toward him. What emerges from Snowden's painstakingly thorough study is that it was not a confrontation--that skin color was no obstacle to harmony in the ancient world. (Publishers Weekly)Professor Snowden has assembled an impressive amount of evidence of contacts which Greeks and Romans had with black Africans throughout the classical period; this evidence comes from archeological and literary sources, and in considering it, he has also combed much modern scholarship on individual bits of evidence. The result is a handbook which should prove useful to anyone who is at all interested in social or cultural attitudes in antiquity. (Classical Philology)Snowden has amassed an impressive amount of evidence proving that "Ethiopians" were not regarded mainly as slaves, but were also widely known as warriors, diplomats, athletes, and performers. (Lorna Hahn Saturday Review)One very effective way to expose the irrational in present-day attitudes is to recall the realities of the past. This is precisely what Frank Snowden has done in this book, a thoroughgoing, scholarly and beautifully illustrated study of the recorded contacts in the ancient world between the Greeks and Romans and that mysterious race of dark-skinned Africans whom they called the Ethiopians...The author is to be congratulated on having made manageable such a mass of pertinent information within the covers of one compact, extremely readable and timely book. (Alan M. G. Little Washington Star)

When you read this book, also pick up a copy of the Aprocrypha that was in the original King James 1611 bible, but has since been removed from newer King James bibles. Black negro helenistic Jews, are the same as black Israelite's that lived under the law and control of the Grecians. They were living the ways of their oppressors/captors, and not the ways of Israel. Ham - the youngest son of Noah, born probably about 96 years before the Flood; and one of eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races; not the NEGROS, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites (Gen 10:6-20). So, do not misunderstand the catch-all term of Ethiopians that the Greek/Romans used to classify all brown skin people Helenistic people. Helenistic means, Jews that made Greek their tongue, and with it, often adopted Greek ideas and practices. (Acts 6:1 ; 9:29). Negros were likely Israelites from the Southern Kingdom, tribe of Judah.

Very important book to add to your library of Black History Books. I had the honor of taking a class from Dr. Snowden in the 70's.

Got the book like history

Excellent book, good read, very rich in content.

Very enlightening book. I am definitely going to read this again, and more thoroughly... I may come back with a more in depth analysis of this book. But what I can say here as I write this is that black people then, like they still do today, have always had and still have a major influence in the people they have interactions with. And, yes, we have much to offer, teach and benefit the world.

Very good condition

Excellent history

A must read

Amazon.com Review

Q & A with author Cynthia Stackpole Snyder Cynthia Stackpole Snyder What led you to write this book? A few years ago I was looking through the PMBOK Guide trying to figure out how to create a form for one of the processes, and I realized that it wasn’t that easy. I thought that it would be really helpful if there were forms that went with the PMBOK Guide so it would be easy to implement the processes described in the guide. You can get a lot of different forms for managing projects, but I knew it would be most helpful if there was a set of forms that was specifically aligned with the acknowledged standard for project management. Why is there a new edition of the Book of Forms? The Book of Forms updates in conjunction with the PMBOK Guide. Because the PMBOK Guide is now in the Fifth Edition, and there are substantial changes from the Fourth Edition, the Book of Forms needed to be updated to align with the latest edition to keep the content fresh. Why do professionals need a book like this? I think this book makes it easy for project managers who are operating in an organization without a lot of existing templates to organize and document information necessary to effectively manage their projects. I think these forms can be especially helpful for new project managers who don’t have a good grasp on how to organize their thoughts and the work of the project team. More experienced project managers will want to tailor the forms to meet their specific needs. The forms are very easy to tailor; I tailor them frequently when I manage projects. Why is the new Project Manager’s Book of Forms a must-have book? There is a form in here for every plan and key output in the PMBOK Guide. Why spend the time and effort creating your own version of forms when there is a one-stop book that has over a hundred pages of forms to help manage projects? This book can save time and effort, and help people do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.

I like what he did with this book. It is a great reference for someone studying for their PMP exam and wants to see what the different documents look like and contain. Maybe not the best for professional business forms, but he markets it as a reference to PMBOK 6 which it does and excellent job of. I'm pleased with my purchase and am sure you will to.

I am glad that PMI finally pulled together a companion guide to the PMBOK. The content is valid and adequate but the format and the appearance is very disappointing. Although the title of the book states "FORMS" I was expecting a more professional looking set of templates that could be modified to include a company name and logo. These are very basic forms that have no headers, footers or margins. The border around each page prohibits you from expanding a certain text box to accommodate more text without corrupting the entire page formatting. The book shows each form with instructions inside each field to be completed; however that information is not included in the electronic copy. If you needed to assign this form to someone else to complete, it would be a challenge to complete it correctly without guidance.Aesthetically they look like a "pen and ink" fill in the blank form from the 1970's and not like something that was created in a robust word processor such as WORD. They are a good guide for content, but not immediately usable.

It was cheaper to buy this book from Amazon instead of the Project Management Institute--(PMI), "Even for PMI Members", after postage. Amazon also "has" customer service, so where to buy this is was a no brainer. Many of the forms in the book are just a series of empty blocks with section headers from the Project Management Book of Knowledge, PMI's (PMBOK 4th) Edition. So the offered forms are often rudimentary. So if the purchaser is savvy to PMI and PMBOK and looking for a baseline book of forms for a project management program, this is it. This is a great place to start that journey of developing forms for your Program Management Office (PMO), congratulations to Ms Stackpole and team!Lastly, The price of the book felt egregious, but of course that is a matter of perspective.

This book is a giant leap forward in that it presents, for the first time, a complete set of forms required to run a project using the process put forward in PMBOK 4. But don't think for a moment it will solve all your project template issues.Where the book is strong is that it helps you identify the core fields that need to be included in a template. It is thus a useful check for making your own template. But you will need to use this base and apply this to your specific environment. The templates have very limited formatting and to simply use them in the current state would not help you in presenting yourself as a professional PM. But then it would be impossible for the book to cater for all CI requirements so maybe the KISS offering is most appropriate. This review would have served its purpose if it helps in managing stakeholders expectations from the book. And we all know, managing stakeholders¡¦ expectations is a major part of any project. The good news is that the book has some useful templates on this very topic. :-)So, in conclusion, this book is a good start but don¡¦t think you are buying a readymade solution. Rather view it as a useful starting point to generate your own templates. Expect a solution on the plate and you will rate the book a 1 start, expect a useful start and you will give it a 5 start. If (like me) you don't do any research before buying the book, it¡¦s a 3 star.

Few good ideas about form stiles and some follow-up system but most new accounting systems come with requiere templets. As non'profit oficial organization I was hoping for ideas to manage step by step evens with action delegations and more people management as well help on budgeting.

I bought this product because it advertised that you could use the forms as is or down;load from the companion website and tailor to your project's unique needs. The advertisement also says to "customize each form to suit each projects needs". I downloaded the forms after purchasing the book, and you can not customize them, you can only use them as is.

This is exactly what I needed. I’m studying for the PMP and got most of my studying done and then received this book and it’s like Cliff Notes with brief descriptions of what each form is used for and why it’s needed. It’s prefect for someone someone who just wants additional material to review and the forms are just really nice to have now before my exam and in my future PMP job.

Highly recommend getting this book. The forms save you a lot of time if you just want to instantaneously have a form to start with, revise, and just hit the ground running with managing a project. Plenty of good templates.
