I've been a Darkhorse Star Wars comic fan since the Republic series and I stuck with those characters and storylines with the Dark Times comic series. Dark Times continues the aftermath of Order 66 that we see executed in the movie Revenge of the Sith and in the final issues of the Republic series.The story follows a handful of Jedi as they attempt to evade the Empire at all ends of the galaxy, search for fellow Jedi survivors, and either attempt to live in peace or to fight back against overwhelming odds.Volume 6: Fire Carrier, brings us back to Jedi Master K'kruhk- a powerful jedi general who is now responsible for a sizable group of jedi younglings and has to worry about their survival and further jedi education. He's become a mentor, teacher, protector and father-figure to many now and this volume shows his further struggles with conflict (see previous volumes for his experiences dealing with violence and rage). Fire Carrier has somewhat of a self-contained story but also interweaves some past characters seen throughout the Republic series make appearances and also shows the reader that the Empire isn't the completely Emperor/Sith army that it's thought to be from the remaining Jedi in hiding; there's some who remain faithful to their Jedi generals they fought under during the Clone Wars and some even risk their lives and rank in situations involving them.I'll keep buying & reading this series until it concludes, like Republic- it's been very entertaining & I tell everyone I know who's a Star Wars fan that the Republic comic series is the quintessential Clone Wars story- not Lucas' Clone Wars tv series (which completely throws out the EU and comic series). The comic series Republic & Dark Times take what was established in Attack of the Clones & expounds on it in every way- answering plotholes and unanswered questions the movies don't resolve, while adding depth and a darker tone that the movies scraped the surface with.
If you like this overall story, then you should like this part of it. Vader needs to be a bigger part of the story though. Star Wars fans should probably give it a look, especially if you are a collector. Not bad....not Awesome.....
Great series! Recommended for adults. The one darks side character here is too simple, and rushed, but the overall quality is great. The drawings are a step down from previous editions (which was among the best I've ever seen). I give it 5 stars because there are few star wars series who rivals this one. Love this angle on the post-Clone war history. Read every story of the Dark Times series before this one since everyone is linked together (and that include the "Vector" parts too).
