My grandson is almost 8. He is addicted to Minecraft. Although he is an excellent reader, above second grade reading level, he is not fond of reading because he does not find the books interesting. Well I ordered him the entire set of this series. Probably a dumb idea because had he not liked them I would have been stuck with 9 books. Luckily, I judged correctly. For the first time since he had discovered Minecraft, the video game, he was reading rather than playing. It confirmed Grandma's theory that it was not the reading he did not like, it was the subject matter! Yeah Grandma. So the books get 5 starts from both of us.

This is not an individual review of this particular book, but I'm giving 5 stars across the board in regards to the entire series of the minecraft zombie books. Mainly because I bought these some years ago and I cannot remember for the life of me the details of each book.Years ago, I bought the first diary of a minecraft zombie when my child was in elementary school and he couldn't put it down. I kept surprising him with additional books until he ended up with an entire series. He's now in middle school and will still pull them out of his bookshelf to read for fun. He also keeps a few of them in our camper to read while on vacation as well. These certainly are keepers ..and maybe someday in a distant future (emphasize DISTANT), I'll get the chance to pass down these very same books to my grandchildren and let them know how much their father cherished these stories when he was a young boy.

My 7-yr old is obsessed with Minecraft and loves reading books about it. We've read a number of them together, and some are quite good. This series, however, leaves a lot to be desired. There are so many errors throughout the book...missing letters, punctuation, etc. For me, though, the most disturbing aspect is the fat-shaming. Glimpses of this could be seen in the first two books, but in this one, it is more in your face. In this day and age of bullying, I found it quite upsetting. My son is very tall for his age and on the husky side. It really made me angry to read about a "fat" kid and how he couldn't run very fast, and at one point, he was asked if he had any cake. I'm highly annoyed that I spent my hard-earned money on this trash.

We have read all of the books in the Diary of a Minecraft Zombie series, but this one is my son's favorite. If you haven't read the other books in the series, you might want to check them out first (starting with Book 1). You could probably read this one without having read the others, but it's better (in my opinion) if you read them in order so you're familiar with the characters. The book is written in diary style, and the chapters are broken up into days as Zombie tells you about his life. Zombie is a likable Mob and not at all scary. He has a human friend Steve (and in this story, they wind up switching bodies because of a swamp witch! Oh no!) and lots of funny Mob friends, too. My son thought it was hysterical how Zombie tried to fit in as "Steve" in the human Minecraft world. It's very creative and spins off the Minecraft game, so not everything is exactly how you see it in the game (Zombie has a family and goes to school, Steve also goes to school, etc.). The book is a quick read and suitable for 7 and up (although in this particular story, they talk about a lot of things that 12 year olds go through, like bullying and trying to fit in at middle school that maybe the young kids won't get yet. But this did not seem to bother my son!). There are some black and white illustrations/pictures throughout that my son enjoyed, too. The book is very clever and I chuckled aloud several times while reading it. The whole series is a great way to inspire Minecrafters to read. And if your child is a fan of the Wimpy Kid series, they'll enjoy the style of the book, too!

I loved this book for its positive messages about friendship and fitting in. My son says the survival games were very exciting and he liked the smart idea of hiding at the top of a tree. He is going to try it in Minecraft. My son is 8 and read this book on his own.

I bought the Diary of A Minecraft Zombie books for my Minecraft obsessed 10 year old daughter and she loves them! She quickly finished each book and I can't buy them fast enough! Would definitely recommend to anyone buying for a young (8-11 yr old) Minecraft obsessed child!

My son is 8 and has been reading these books since he was 7. He loves them! It’s the only way I can get him interested in reading. It sometimes feels like as soon as one comes in the mail, he’s begging me to order the next one!

My 6 year old grandson loves reading these books. These are his first 'real" chapter books. He loves Minecraft too.
